SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Without a doubt, our camps are places where children form friendships. This year, our camp counselors and volunteers will do even more to intentionally build community in Rec & Ed camps. With training and other resources from the Weikert Center for Youth Program Quality, camp staff will provide welcoming environments, lead community building activities, and use discussion at the end of the day to reinforce connections and concepts.
Through our community building and other social emotional skill support, our goal is for every camper to feel at home at camp, whether or not your child knows anyone on the first day. We genuinely hope that your child's experience at camp this summer creates a lifetime of memories.
Being a volunteer provides opportunities for students to learn and demonstrate responsibility and leadership.
Volunteers may perform tasks such as assisting campers with projects, helping camp staff with administrative activities and contributing to a positive camp atmosphere
Rec & Ed's academic and "club" camps focus on retaining and building critical skills in fun, small group settings. Campers will be engaged in math and reading with no test at the end!
These are not your ordinary summer art camps! You'll be launched into FUN, paint beach landscapes, and dive into Michigan heritage.
Campers can taste adventure in our new cooking and baking camps. Experience hands-on lessons as you learn how to cook from scratch and discover new ingredients.
